Maritime Cybersecurity Officer Training
New U.S. Coast Guard regulations (33 CFR §101.650) mandate that maritime Cybersecurity Officers (CySOs) complete role-specific cyber incident training by January 12, 2026. This live online course is designed to help port and vessel operators meet these requirements, covering all required topics – from recognizing cyber threats to OT security practices – as specified in 33 CFR §101.650(d)(1)(ii)-(v). Participants will learn how to detect and respond to cyber incidents in maritime environments, understand techniques attackers use to circumvent defenses, and follow proper incident reporting procedures to the CySO. With real-world maritime cyber incidents causing major disruptions (a single attack in 2017 cost Maersk over $200 million and shut down port operations), this training is critical to protect your organization and ensure compliance. Expert instructors will guide you through interactive scenarios, equipping you to coordinate incident response decisions confidently and fulfill your duties under the new Coast Guard rules. A certificate of completion is provided to document your training for USCG audits and compliance verification.
Who Should Attend:
Designated Cybersecurity Officers (CySOs) at MTSA-regulated facilities, vessels, and OCS facilities seeking to fulfill USCG training requirements.
Facility Security Officers, IT/OT Managers, or other maritime professionals responsible for cybersecurity and incident response planning.
Port authority and maritime operations personnel involved in implementing cybersecurity plans or responding to cyber incidents.
Learning Outcomes:
Recognize the signs of cybersecurity threats and all types of cyber incidents in maritime IT and OT systems .
Understand common techniques attackers use to circumvent cybersecurity measures (e.g. phishing, malware, USB exploits) and how to counter them .
Know the proper procedures for reporting a cyber incident to the CySO and relevant authorities, ensuring timely escalation and compliance .
Apply operational technology (OT)-specific cybersecurity best practices to protect industrial control systems on ships and at port facilities .
